Who are we?
The Università degli Studi di Torino (UniTo) (https://en.UNITO.it/) is one of the largest Italian Universities, with about 80.000 students, 3.900 employees (academic, administrative and technical staff), 1.800 post-graduate and post-doctoral research fellows. Research and training are performed in 27 Departments, encompassing all scientific disciplines except Engineering and Architecture, offering excellent opportunities for Italian and non-Italian academic staff. As for internationalization, UniTo is involved in about 600 cooperation agreements with institutions all around the world, including joint educational programs at undergraduate and doctoral level. UniTo manages roughly 500 projects per year, both at the national and international level. International and local funding programmes, both public and private, support the University’s commitment to innovation and research.
Ambition statements
UNITO has been involved in medium to large scale international research projects in which LCA has been applied to sustainable supply, use and recycling of minerals and metals. G.A. Blengini has been a senior researcher at the JRC of the EC at the time of the launch of the Life Cycle Data Network (https://eplca.jrc.ec.europa.eu/LCDN) and has coordinated the JRC team in support of the EC criticality assessments (List of CRMs for the EU 2014, 2017, 2020, 2023) and for the Monitoring Framework of Circular Economy in the EU.
Main role in NEOCYCLE: Energy efficiency, TEA assessment, identification of circular indicators and criticality indicators.
